Objective
The Scorpio Skies Tour poster promotes a fictional North American tour for musician Phoebe Bridgers. Accompanied by t-shirt merchandise, both the poster and apparel emphasize the existential themes from Bridgers’ sophomore album, “Punisher,” capturing the album’s hauntingly introspective mood.
Research
Phoebe Bridgers is an indie rock musician, known for her emotionally captivating and witty lyrics. Bridgers' sophomore album, Punisher, cemented her as a masterful storyteller and pushed her into the limelight of the indie rock scene.
Across Punisher, Bridgers searches for comfort in fictional and literal apocalyptic scenarios. She tackles feelings of existentialism, often feeling aimless yet constantly trying to shake herself from living outside her body. Bridgers uses raw storytelling sprinkled with humor to tug at the listener’s heartstrings as she grapples with confusion and seeks purpose. The poster design aimed to convey the album's themes of existentialism and references to space.
Sketches
Different compositions were sketched to organize the three key groups of information: Phoebe Bridgers' name, the tour name, and the list of dates. The plan was to use a photo of Bridgers in dark lighting, wearing her skeleton suit, as the background.
Background Image Ideation
While editing the photos, the color palette was restricted to blue, red, and black, aligning with the record's thematic colors. The edited images are intentionally low in contrast to prevent clashing with the overlaying text.
Integrating Text
The last ideation of Bridgers staring into the sky in a vast landscape was chosen because it conveys her feelings of aimlessness when confronted by the enormity of life.
Style Guide: Color & Type
The Avenir typeface was used for the dates, cities, and venues because it is more legible than Adobe Caslon Pro. The dates, cities, and venues being legible are crucial for viewers to quickly and easily skim their location.
Stamp Exploration
Stamps with a gothic or space element were selected and then implemented into the poster. Stamps were added to the poster because of their distressed and worn texture.
Texture Exploration
Different textures were explored to make the composition more dimensional and help build the atmosphere that Bridgers is standing in..

Scorpio Skies Tour Merchandise
Phoebe Bridgers' name was planned to be centered on the front of the t-shirt, with the tour name and dates displayed on the back. To create cohesion between the poster and the t-shirt, the shirt would remain in the same color palette: blue, red, black, and white. The stamps were also set to be implemented into the composition.
